Foursquare and your Business. How can Foursquare help your business.

Foursquare's main goal is to engage people. To encourage them to go out and explore places. Foursquare is becoming the new "it" social network and those businesses who are not taking full advantage of it might fall behind. The exposure a business receives through Foursquare is enormous and the investment is minimum to none.

Business owners can use Foursquare to encourage customers to visit their location. It is a great tool help them establish relationships with their customers as well as to reward their loyal visitors.

Tips:

  1. List your business. Visit www.foursquare.com and find out if your website is listed or not. If it isn't, go ahead and add it. If it is, make sure that all the information is accurate.
  2. Encourage. Encourage Foursquare users to check-in, write reviews and leave tips on your locations.
  3. Reward. Offer rewards and/or incentives.  Businesses can offer incentives based on number of check-ins, mayorship or randomly.
  4. Promotions. This could be listed under Rewards, but I prefer to list it separately. Promotions can definitely boost up your business. For example, if people check-in at a location near your business, your promotion will show up and will definitely encourage them to stop by.
  5. Tips. Adding tips about your business will definitely bring in more customers. How about if you mention that you'll have a discount tomorrow from 12pm-1pm?
  6. Analytics. Use them. Foursquare offers Analytics; this provides information and statistics about people visiting your location.
  7. Spread the word. Let your offline customers know about your business being listed in Foursquare.
  8. Interact.
